RACINE – Jerry D. Shelmidine, 82, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

He was born in La Crosse, WI on April 27, 1938, the son of Jesse and Dorothy (nee Rasmussen) Shelmidine.  Jerry proudly served his nation with the U.S. Army.  He married LeeAnn Mae Dehn on October 8, 1960.

Jerry retired from Dumore Corporation after many years of service.  He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved fishing up north at their lake cottage in Plainfield and deer hunting at his cottage in Wautoma.  Jerry also enjoyed working in his garden and tinkering in his garage.  However, he was happiest in the company of his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife LeeAnn of 60 years, Jerry is survived by his daughters and son, Brenda (Robert) McLean, David Shelmidine, Tamara (Charles) Olmstead, Lynn Lehman and Rachelle Shelmidine all of Racine; his grandchildren, Scot, Karilyn, Ashley, Griffin, Jesse, Tavis, Taleann, Alec, Jay, Lena, Kade, Salera , Layla and Siniah; his eight great grandchildren; his sisters, Suzanne (Vernon) Hansen and Zonna Falcon; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard (Josephine) Tucker, Donna (Ronnie) Groom, Peter Burbach; as well as many dear nieces, nephews and his American Eskimo dog, Lucy.  In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Burbach; his in-laws, Wilbur and Ann Tucker, his sister-in-law, Terri Lynn Tucker and his canine companion, Bitty.

Family and friends are invited to gather in the funeral home on Wednesday evening to meet with Jerry's family from 5-7 p.m.  The funeral home is allowing 25 people at a time and masks are required.   A private funeral will take place for his family on Thursday, December 10, 2020.   You may watch the funeral via livestream by using this link https://youtu.be/5bssWA-WnU4 at 11:00 a.m.

The family has suggested memorials to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Service Details
