PLOVER, FORMERLY OF KENOSHA – Mrs. Joan J. Holman, 87, passed away at her residence on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Joan was born in Kenosha on December 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Herman M. and Alma Bertha (nee Joerndt) Piehl. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.
Joan married Henry G. Holman, III, on August 11, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2001.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and “grandmother froggie” aka great-grandmother. She was a lifetime seamstress at the Leader Store in downtown Kenosha and out of her home. Her customer base alone was astounding. She was the matriarch for entertaining; all holiday meals were prepared by her for the entire family, as she loved to cook and bake. Her other hobbies included: Riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle in almost every state across America; going camping; being a golfer; being a gardener; collecting frogs that were displayed in her home; an avid Packer and Badger fan; and loved to read murder mysteries at a rate of close to one book a day. Most of all, she had a strong Faith life that she shared with her children and is being passed along to their grandchildren of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod at New Life Lutheran Church, previously known as Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, and for the past three years at The Divine Word Evangelical Lutheran Church. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Joan is survived by her sister, Laverne Tobias; her children, Jule (Lyle) Stine, Kim (Scott) Burke, Henry (Debbie) Holman, IV, Mike (Judy) Holman, Traci (Dave) Kluver; 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Piehl, Robert Piehl, Herman Piehl, and Warren Piehl; her great-grandchildren, Jimmy Stine-Wozniak, Henry Gravelle, and Sofie Holman.
