Racine – Joan E. Martin, 79, passed away at Lakeshore Manor on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. She was born on April 29, 1931, daughter of the late Ralph and Leona (nee: Fewless) Kelsey.  She was married in Marinette on March 28, 1953 to Gerald "Gerry" Martin. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1988.  Joan was proud to be a traditional homemaker, taking great joy in caring for her family.  During her years in Racine she enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital in the gift shop. She was a member of Christ Church United Methodist.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Jim) Curtis of Grayslake, Illinois, and Liz Martin of Racine; grandchildren, Claudia (Josh) Percifield, Emily (Kevin) Bear, Tony (Treva) Olivero, and Melissa (Noah) Reece; great-grandchildren, Alexander Bear, and Noah Reece, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Jacque (Donna) Kelsey, Jill Ewald, Bob Kelsey, David Kelsey, and Linda (Gary)Schick. Joan was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Martin; her brother Bill Kelsey; and sister Marian Polach.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 with Pastor Greg Bostrom officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Interment at West Lawn Memorial park will follow the service. Donations to your favorite charity in Joan's name are encouraged.
