Obituary

John Henry Anderson III, 94, completed his earthly pilgrimage on Friday, December 16, 2022. He was born in Racine on May 3, 1928, the son of the late John Henry and Blanch (nee: Brown) Anderson II.

John served his country with the U.S. Army during Word War II. On February 7, 1947, in Crown Point, IN, he was united in marriage to Carol G. Johnson, who preceded him in death on August 23, 2002. On December 26, 2003, at Calvary Memorial Church, he was united in marriage to Lois Maurer.

John was a skilled carpenter and built many homes here in Racine. He later worked for American Motors (now Chrysler) for over 30 years, retiring on February 29, 1992. He was a member of Calvary Memorial Church, the U.A.W. Local 72 Retirees, and the A.M.C. 30 Year Club. John loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and had a great fondness for Lake Michigan, with his boat Big John. He truly loved his God, his family, and his dog Annie.

Surviving are his wife, Lois; their children, daughter-in-law Bonnie Anderson, Sandi Larson, Scott (Carmie) Anderson, Chris (Christine) Anderson, Becky Krug, Thomas Maurer, Kurt (Deena) Maurer, and Rod (Nicola) Maurer; grandchildren, John (Johnny) Henry Anderson V, Heidi Wyatt (Jim), Cory Goetz (Angie), Jodi Riehle (Mark), Paul Deckret (Riho), Ryan Burrow (Maruska), Susan Jorgensen (Jason), Eric Burrow (Shawna), Ric Maurer (Megan), Alyssa Rubio (Nef), Cassy Gauthier (David), Kyle Maurer (Laura), Clayton Maurer, Kayla Maurer, Rod Maurer Jr., Daniel Maurer, Reece Maurer. Also surviving are many loved great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, John Henry Anderson VI, Dylan Anderson, Nathan Travis (Regina), Brittney Travis, Christian Lentz, Allison Lentz, Abby Lentz, Rei Deckret, Keaton Goetz, Jackson Goetz, Alex Goetz, Madelyn Burrow, Justin Burrow, Max Jorgensen, Chloe Jorgensen, Ryker Jorgensen, Dawsen Jorgensen, Colton Burrow, Callynn Burrow, Serenity Maurer, Eugene Maurer, Hudson Maurer, Jude Gauthier, Joel Gauthier, Jonathan Gauthier, Jane Maurer, Raylynn Travis, Jonah Travis, Breaisha Tate, Jamar Williams, and Daevion Tate.

In addition to his parents and wife, Carol, John was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Clinton, infant sister, Nordis Helen Anderson and twin brothers, Russell and Ralph Anderson and son, John Anderson IV.

Service Details

His funeral service, with full military honors, will be held in Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Ave., on Tuesday, December 27 th , at 11:00 a.m., with his grandson, Rev. Cory Goetz officiating, Visitation will be in the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
