Obituary

Racine – John H. Boehm, "Opa", passed away unexpectedly at All Saints Hospital on Saturday, June 6, 2009. He was 65. John was born in Racine on July 15, 1943, son of the late Edmund and Orlea (nee: Lampman) Boehm. Following high school, John joined the US Army, and served in Germany from 1960-63. There, he met a beautiful young German girl who would later become his wife. Maria Helene Mueller and John Homer Boehm were married in Bamberg, Germany on August 17, 1963. Throughout the years they enjoyed countless trips back to Germany to visit with family and friends in a country that he dearly loved. John was the epitome of the hard-working family man. Nothing came before his wife and children, and he was a perfect role model for his grandchildren. John loved to golf, work in the yard and help others with projects whenever he could. There were few things that he couldn't fix or repair. He was very detail oriented, and precise in everything he did. Many of these attributes are what lead him to a long and successful career with JI Case, where he was a Quality Control Engineer for many years. His sense of humor and quick wit were trademarks of his personality that everyone loved and enjoyed. He will be missed by many family members, friends, co-workers, and his puppy "Kirby". John is survived by his loving wife of almost 46 years, Maria; his children, Patricia (Bernhard) Brandt of Schornweisach, Germany, and Scott (Connie) Boehm of Racine; daughter-in-law, Miya Mueller of Kenosha; grandchildren Thomas, Jr., and Lyla Mueller, Matthias, Michael, and Andreas Brandt, Jacob, and Casey Boehm, Wesley, and Jennifer Wilson; sisters, Bonnie Hart, Eleanor (Larry) Eschmann, and Joann (Mike) Rubel; sister-in-law, Rita Boehm; as well as many other relatives and friends both here and in Germany. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Mueller; brother, August "Pete" Boehm; brother-in-law, Paul Hart: and his best friend, Rod Allen. The funeral service for John will be held in the funeral home at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. All are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 pm until the start of the service. Interment with military honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
