Racine- John Edward Cross, 77, passed away at the Becker-Shoop Center on Monday, January 5, 2009. John was born in Wabeno, WI on July 25, 1931 to the late John F. and Evelyn (nee: Rice) Cross. He faithfully served our Country with the United States Army in the Korean War. John was employed for many years as a machinist at The Heil Co. in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1985. A private man of few words, John was happiest in the comfort of his own home while in the surroundings of those he loved. On January 30, 1982 in Racine, he was united in marriage with Jeannine Marie (nee: Miller) Cross, who survives John along with his step-son, Daryl Thomas; and other special relatives, Jane Greenwood, Mary Greenwood, Peggy Wasson and Jean Greenwood. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation will take place. A brief Service of Remembrance will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 12 noon. Interment, with military honors, will follow in S. WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. There will be time to visit with John's family at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 am – 12 noon.
