John R. Dexter, 69, was called to eternal life while being treated at Select Specialty Hospital, West Allis, on Saturday, April 9, 2011. He was born in Racine on August 1, 1941, the son of the late Rennie and Dorothy (nee: Breheim) Dexter.
On December 27, 1969, John was united in marriage to Marian Machart at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant, WI. After John retired from 29 years of service at JI Case, he became a well known realtor in Racine at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. John enjoyed farming for many years and served as past president of the Farm Bureau. John was devoted to serving the Lord through Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant, WI and was instrumental in establishing Concordia Lutheran School. John was chairman of the congregation at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant and past president of Concordia Lutheran School Board. He was an active member of Local #180, serving as president of the retirees and former member of the Bargaining Committee.
John will be deeply missed by his wife, Marian; their sons, Bradley (Janet) Dexter and Nathan (Kim) Dexter; four grandchildren, Brandon, Sydney, Tori, and Riley, all of Racine; sister, Julie (Eberhard) Esser, of Kenosha; brothers, William (Patricia) Dexter, of Yorkville, and Arthur (Jill) Dexter, of Racine; his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
John's tremendous life will be celebrated through a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave., Sturtevant, on Friday, April 15 th , with Rev. Jeffrey Mortenson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., as well as in the church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has requested memorials to Faith Lutheran Church or Concordia Lutheran School.
