Mr. John P. Fischer, Sr., 69, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, April 18, 2014.
He was born in Racine on August 1, 1944, the son of the late Robert and Mary (nee: DeHerrera) Fischer. On November 30, 1963, he married his first and only love, Sandra Malko. She preceded him in death after a battle with cancer on January 27, 2009.
John worked as a machinist and retired from Metro Machine Tool. He was always happy when he could be outdoors. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his earlier years he also enjoyed stock car racing. John's greatest joy derived from being in the company of those he loved; his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons and daughter, John (Linda) Fischer, Jr. of Burlington, William Fischer of Silver Lake, Frank Fischer of Genoa, Yvonne Johnson of Burlington; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Carol) Fischer of Colorado, Tony (Carol) Fischer of Iowa; sister, Maryann Biondi of Racine; as well as many dear brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Fischer and sister, Rita Radke.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. for a visitation. A service honoring and celebrating his life will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. His cremation will take place following the service and his interment will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name have been suggested to one's favorite charity.
