John Iver Adam Volk, our 8-month old baby boy, joined the angels in Heaven after passing away unexpectedly at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 8:31 am.

John, affectionately known as “Wubba,” was born in Pleasant Prairie on June 5, 2025 to Mackenzie Rae Grasser and Matthew Robert Volk.

Always giggling, smiling, gentle, attentive and inquisitive, John was our happy little boy who loved to cuddle, be held, was never picky and always loved to try new foods. He was a great sleeper like his dad, enjoyed watching the outside world from the front window while standing on the sofa with grandpa Mark, loved his turtle toy, field trips to museums & zoos, dogs & cats, Disney lullabies & Sesame Street…..just to name a few of his favorites.

Surviving are his devastated mom & dad, Mackenzie & Matthew; grandparents, Mark & Lynda Grasser and Tabathia Volk; uncles, Mitchell (Alyssen) Grasser and Jack (Katherine) Volk; cousins, Lukas, Emilia, Prudence, Thorin, Phinehas & Jethro Grasser and Aaron Volk; great-aunts & uncles, Mary (George) Kolar, Robert Grasser, Carl (Theresa) Grasser, Daniel (Cecilia) Gallatin, Cheryl (Jerry) Kostrewa and Jeffrey (Catherine) Volk; other relatives & family friends.

Little John was welcomed into Heaven by his grandfather, Robert Volk; great-grandparents, John & Ethel Gallatin, Ray & Mildred Mazzarelli, William “Bud” Grasser, Raymond & Karen Stendahl and John & Nancy Volk; great-great-grandmother (who met little John before she passed away in 2025 at age 106 years old), Mary Louise Schenkenberg; and great-aunt, Sandy Grasser.

Services celebrating our amazing little boy will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 6:00 pm. Visitation for family & friends will be from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Racine Police & Fire Departments and responding paramedics, Ascension All Saints Emergency Room, Flight-for-Life and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for their efforts to save our precious baby boy. Please keep our entire family in your thoughts and prayers. Another heartfelt thank you to cousin Laura for being there for John, Mackenzie, and Matthew and being a shining light during a devastating time. Everyone’s support and presence will forever be remembered and appreciated.

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for all the kindness and sincere expressions of sympathy that you extended to us during the loss of my son, Todd Swanson. We appreciate all the extra special things you did to help us through this very difficult time. We didn’t have to think ahead, we just had to be there while every little detail was taken care of by you and your staff. This made an impression on everyone that came, and I will never forget it. Thank you from all of us.
