~~ John P. Maccaux Sr., 84, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints, on Sunday, July 6, 2014, with his wife at his side. He was born in Sister Bay, WI on April 19, 1930, the son of the late George and Pauline (nee: Evrard) Maccaux. John served his country with the U.S. Army. On May 12, 1981, here in Racine, he was united in marriage to the former Norma Jean Bell Scheckler. Along with his wife Jean, they managed the Lincoln Lutheran Apartments on 16th St. for over 23 years. John was an avid cribbage player. He enjoyed working in his garden and on the apartment grounds. He treasured the time spent with family and friends. Surviving are his wife Jean, his children, Pauline (Gene) Anderson, of Sister Bay, John (Pauline) Maccaux Jr., of Cazenovia, WI, Michael (Kathy) Maccaux, of Baraboo, Raymond (Thomas Jezeski) Maccaux, of Oshkosh, and Linda Maccaux, of Baraboo; 6 step-children, Frederick Workman, of Clarion, PA, Debra (Dennis) Boyle, of Necedah, WI, Darla (Ronald) Kramer, of Kenosha, Diana (Philip) Rush, of Racine, William (Debra) Scheckler, of Clarion, PA, and Michael (Carrie) Scheckler, of Racine. John is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother and 7 sisters. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 10th, at 11:30 a.m.. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday, July 11th, at 9:00 a.m.
