John Martin, 83, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at United Hospital.
John was born on August 10, 1934 in Tipler, WI, at his family farm and was the son of the late John and Sally Martin. As a young man, John moved to Green Bay and eventually to Kenosha, WI where he met his future wife, Jeanann Frederick.
On July 14, 1956, John was united in marriage to Jeanann Frederick in Kenosha, WI.
John was employed as a truck driver for many years at Benson Oil and then Consolidated Freightways from which he retired in 1997.
John was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours sitting on the shore of Lake Michigan and area lakes with his grandchildren catching fish. He also enjoyed woodworking in his garage, crafting furniture and other wooden items. John was also known for being a friend to the neighborhood and spent many days, snow blowing or cutting grass for his neighbors. John was known by many names, Uncle Roger to his many nieces and nephews and Dad to his loving daughters. However his favorite name was Papa to his 11 grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Jeanann of 61 years, 5 daughters; Gerri (Mitch) Haberle, Sharon (Jeff Morris) Johanek, Kathy (Ken) Kohler, Mari (Matt) Steagall, Sheila (Scott) King, his 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Allison, Mike, Alex, Jessie, Kaitie, Andrew, Jake, Noah, Ben and great granddaughter Ava, and sister Lucille Wernholm of Iron River, MI. John was proceeded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
A private service was held.
