John O. Meeks Jr "Bubble" (Jewel Muhammad) departed this life and returned to The Creator on Saturday October 24, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born on October 30, 1947 in Memphis, TN to the late John Sr. and Susie Meeks.
Jewel was a member of the Islamic Center of Chicago where he practiced his Islamic faith for over 40 years. He was also a Marine Veteran. Jewel was a man of many of trades. Anyone who knew him, knew that he was always dressed to impress. He practiced photography, was a barber, a marathon runner, and during his time in Chicago, a community activist. In his younger years he enjoyed wrestling, karate, and modeling. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his only daughter, Chantel Scott Jackson (Eugene Jackson) of Racine; Two grandchildren, Brandon G. Scott and Christopher J. Doss both of Racine; Three great grandchildren, Aniyha Scott, Noah Scott and Legend Doss; Three sisters, Dorothy White "Sista Sue," Debra Malone, and Lynette Bell, who was with him until the end; And his fiancé, Ireever Miller. Jewel is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is proceeded in death by his grandson, Jamison Lee Hiler; his mother, Susie Meeks; and his father, John O. Meeks Sr.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. for a service celebrating and remembering John's life. There will be time to gather with the family beforehand from 10-11 a.m. A private interment with military honors will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
