Mr. Joseph E. Lopour, 76, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 27, 2006. He was born in Racine on January 30, 1930 to the late Joseph and Anna (nee: Srnanek) Lopour. On August 12, 1967, he married the former Monica J. "Mona Jo" (nee: Zitka) Jameson. Together they raised two sons, James D. Jameson of Round Rock, TX and Thomas K. (Carla) Jameson of Racine. Joe attended Roosevelt Elementary and graduated from Horlick High School in 1948. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. He worked as a maintenance machinist for 33 years at Wisconsin Electric Power, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Joe loved all of nature. Some of his happiest times were spent with family and friends at their cottage on Selmer Lake in Iola, WI. He also liked tending to his large garden at home. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed playing golf, trap shooting, archery and bowling. Later, his love of fishing and hunting with family and friends continued as well as playing dartball in the Tabor Dart Ball League. In addition to his loving wife of 39 years, Mona Jo, and his sons, Jim and Tom (Carla), Joe is survived by his grandchildren, David Jameson of Round Rock, TX and Sara Jameson of Racine; sisters, Lillian (Lawrence) Cooper of New Berlin, Vilma (Dr. R. Dennison) Woodford of Arnold, CA; brother-in-law, Robert (Katherine) Zitka of Harrison Township, MI; sister-in-law, Betty Sampson of Palm City, FL; his loving and loyal lab companion, Lucky, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna in 1986; father, Joseph in 1997; mother-in-law, Alice Zitka in 1990; father-in-law, Frank Zitka in 1999; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Judith Zitka as well as aunts and uncles. Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday evening for a public visitation from 6-8 p.m. The celebration of Joe's life will be in the funeral home on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Sara Vandeberg officiating. There will also be a visitation in the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 –10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Bohemian National Cemetery.
