Joseph
Zeisberger
Dec 31, 1930 — Apr 18, 2016
Racine –Joseph Zeisberger, age 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Monday, April 18, 2016.
Joseph was born in Germany on December 31, 1930, to the late Joseph and Auguste (nee: Schmidt) Zeisberger. On August 4, 1956, in Holy Name Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Mary Alice (nee: Held).
Joseph was employed as a painter by Postorino Decorating and as an electronic repair specialist by Keystone TV & Appliance. Joseph was a proud member of the Moose Lodge. A creative and talented craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and painting, and he could fix just about anything. Joseph could often be found in his workshop making hand-crafted toys and gifts for his family, who will cherish them for years to come. Joseph loved to fish, and passed on this love to many of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Alice; children, Julie (Greg) Helding of Racine, Tina (Greg Widmer) Zeisberger of Woodstock, IL, Lorrie (Bryan) Emmons of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Jo (Mark) Audenby of Mt. Pleasant, and Joe (Lisa) Zeisberger of Venice, FL; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren (whom lovingly called him their "Opa"); brother-in-law, Herb (Marion) Held; sister-in-law, Katie (Tony) Widmar; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends¬—too numerous to mention all by name.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Virginia (Al) Green.
A memorial service will be held at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 11:00 am, with the Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Private burial will take place in Old Holy Cross Cemetery – Kinzie Avenue. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
A heartfelt note of thanks to the doctors & nurses at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints, and to the staff of The Villa at Lincoln Park for the compassionate care and support given in Joseph's time of need. May God bless all of you!
