Obituary

Mrs. Josephine A. "Finney" Stevens, 76, passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 18, 2009. She was born in Darmstadt, Germany on February 14, 1932 to the late Peter and Netta (nee: Shaffer) Klee. On December 16, 1955, she married John H. Stevens. After their marriage, John brought her back to the United States, eventually settling in Wheeling, IL. They moved to Racine in 1993. Mrs. Stevens was a loving wife and mother. She was also a doting grandmother, affectionately known as "Oma." She was always happiest in the surroundings of her family. In addition to her husband, John, her survivors include her children, Netta Gillenberger of Germany, Victor (Lori Anne) Stevens of Bristol, WI, Mark Stevens of Chicago, Christina (Larry) Farina of Mundelein, IL; grandchildren, Peter Shultz and Johanna Gillenberger, Zachary, Caleb and Sofia Farina; great grandchild, Jonas Shultz; sister, Karola Dery of New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Stevens of Santa Barbara, CA and brother-in-law, Rod Stevens of Lompoc, CA. Family and friends are invited to meet for the celebration of Finney's life and funeral service in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 (TONIGHT) at 7:00 p.m. with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. A private burial will take place on Thursday in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
