Racine – Kaleb Austin (Montelongo) Day, age 24, suddenly passed away at home, as the result of a grand mal seizure, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Kaleb was born in Stevens Point, WI on February 21, 2001. He attended the schools of Red Apple, Fratt, Concordia and McKinley before moving on to William Horlick High School, where he was a stand-out football player #69, graduating in 2019. His love for football began at a young age when he played for team Notre Dame with Old Timers Youth Football, where his Dad was the coach, winning the championship in 2008. After graduating from Horlick, Kaleb went on to successfully play football for Minnesota West College until COVID-19 changed the world. When Kaleb returned home, he played on the 2023 World Championship Racine Raiders football team. For the past four years, Kaleb was a proud coach at Horlick High School, where he helped mold the next generation of players. Go Rebels!
Kaleb had worked for Fiber-Tech, Inc. until taking his current position with Typenex in Mount Pleasant. Proud of his Native American heritage, Kaleb was a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, born with the name Woroǧucnaaži (meaning: standing while looking). Outside of family and football, Kaleb was crazy about his 1978 Ford T-Bird and was an avid gamer.
Surviving are his heart-broken parents, James F. and Carol L. (nee: Pfotenhauer) Day; siblings, Ashley (Tony) Rannow, Mary (Romone) Harrison, Lincoln Montelongo, Makayla Campbell, Darius Campbell and Brendan Littlejohn; adored nieces & nephews, Saige & Alex Rannow, Kiley Janiak and Piper Harrison; special friend, Samantha; many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, football family & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
Kaleb was preceded in death by grandparents, Jean Day, Cleto Montelongo, James & Nancy Pfotenhauer; and great-grandparents, Richard & Alberta Day.
