Karla gave her battle with Ovarian cancer to the Lord on September 1, 2024. Karla was born to Dianna Kirk and Jonathan Fitchgerald Sr., on May 2, 1970 in Racine, WI. She graduated from Jerome I. Case High School and later received a Bachelor of Art in Sociology from Carthage College in Kenosha, and a Master of Science in Adult Education, Human Services from UW-Platteville.  She spent her career passionately helping others as a social worker and behavioral health specialist.

Karla was a very sweet, outgoing, kindhearted person who loved the Lord. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was licensed as a minister under her coverings: Bishop D'aldo and Co-pastor Alisa Jones. Karla enjoyed shopping, dining, traveling, watching the news, going to concerts, and her favorite thing of all was spending time with those she loved.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Parents Dianna Kirk and Jonathan Fitchgerald, Sr., Daughter De'Andrea (Donald) Woods, Siblings Prentice Ray Price, Schinika Fitch, Alechia (Edwin) Gregory, Jonathan Fitchgerald Jr., and Christian Fitchgerald. Special nieces Taylor (Alexander), Ava, and Averie Anderson, and a host of family and close friends.

Karla is preceded in death by maternal grandparents David Kirk Sr. and Merida Kirk (William) Griffie, paternal grandparents John and Ollie Fitch, Aunts Lottie Bell Price and Diane Fitch, Uncles David Kirk Jr., Zenith Kirk, and Willie James Kirk.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Searching Together Missionary Baptist Church (825 21st Street) on Saturday, September 14, 2024, for a visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.   A service celebrating her life and Homegoing will follow at 11:00 am.   Her interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery on Monday, September 16th at 10:00 am.  Those wishing to attend may meet at the front gate at 10:00 am to process to the grave.
