Obituary

~~    Kathryn J. Schmidt, 94, passed away in Ridgewood Care Center on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. She was born in Green Bay on February 23, 1920 the daughter of the late Neville and Rose (nee: Stiller) Grosse. On February 28, 1942, in Green Bay, she was united in marriage to Arnold Schmidt, who preceded her in death on November 4, 1998. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the Cross and Crown, the Lutheran High School Guild, the Braille Workers, and the BCCA Club. She also sat on the board of directors, and was an avid volunteer, for the Lutheran High School Thrift Shop. Surviving are her three daughters, Rosemary DeGroot, Evelyn (Robert) O'Connor, all of Racine, and Catherine (Bruce) Ziolkowski, of Rhinelander, WI; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Raymond DeGroot, a  grandson, Robert and granddaughter, Sandi. Her funeral will be held in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3350 Lathrop Ave., on Sunday, July 13th at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Timothy Schellenbach officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Sunday, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at 12:00Noon. on Monday, in the Grosse Cemetery, Little Suamico, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lutheran High School, the Braille Workers, or your favorite charity.
