It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Kelly Christine Saavedra, age 63, a resident of Wisconsin Rapids, who departed this world peacefully on May 18, 2025, at her father’s home in Racine, WI. Born on December 24, 1961, in Racine to Roy and Lilly (nee Hansen) Scheller, Kelly embraced life with a spirit that touched all who knew her.
On September 29, 2001, Kelly found her soulmate, Timothy Saavedra, Sr., after rediscovering their connection at their 20th high school reunion. Their love was a testament to the beauty of second chances, and together they shared a life filled with laughter, compassion, and unwavering support.
A proud graduate of Washington Park High School in 1980, Kelly pursued her passion for education, ultimately earning a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1986. As a dedicated teacher, she inspired countless minds and hearts, nurturing a love for learning that will resonate through generations. In her later years, Kelly brought her warm and welcoming nature to her roles as a sales clerk at Lighthouse Christian Books and Gifts and then at Let’s Create, where her kindness and infectious smile brightened the days of all she encountered.
Kelly leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and dedication to education that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy Saavedra, Sr.; step-son, Timothy (Sarah) Saavedra, Jr.; step-daughter, Cassandra Saavedra; grandchildren, Jameson, Connie, Regina; father, Roy Scheller; brother, Corey (Joni) Scheller; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.
Kelly is preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Christine Scheller; and her grandparents.

Tim,
My heart aches for you! You have both been such incredible lights to the world and your light will be be a little dimmer for a while. Between your move from Wisconsin Rapids and then, my move to the Madison area, the visits and conversations have been few, but never forgotten.
I have so many fond and fun memories of Kel. One in particular stands out, as silly as it is. Goodwill had a broach in the locked jewelry cabinet. The broach was a stained glass leaf. Every Sunday, after church, I would wonder in, to see what colored tag was 50% off. When the pink tag was on the entry sign, I stood in line at the register…hoping no one in front of me wanted the broach at half price.
After purchasing the broach, I was on my way out when I met Kel in the entryway. Of course, chatting ensued. =o) During our conversation, she made the comment that she was here to check on a stained glass leaf pin…if you snooze, you lose!
Every time I wear the broach, someone will comment on the uniqueness of the leaf and I immediately share our story. =o)
I know this is a silly memory. Knowing Kel, there are too many silly memories to share. My life has been deeply touched by her smile, her kindness, her hugs, and her soft-spoken encouragement. Tim, you and the family are in my sincerest prayers. Hugs to all of you,
