Service Details

In accordance with Ken’s wishes, his service will be held privately. Interment with full military honors will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Kenneth Johnsen, age 86, of Racine, passed away on September 2, 2025. Ken was born in Racine on August 21, 1939, the son of the late Kai and Edna (nee: Andersen) Johnsen. He attended Vocational School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from May of 1958 until his honorable discharge in April of 1962.

On July 23, 1966, in St. Edward Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Mary Derzay. By trade, he drove tractor-trailers through the years. Ken, along with Mary, enjoyed their travels to the family cabin in Manitowish Waters, relishing their pontoon boat rides on the Manitowish Chain of Lakes. He was also an avid Packer fan and fisherman. He enjoyed watching the wildlife up north. Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary; his sons, Kenneth (Lori Dolgner) Johnsen and David (Renni Mathison) Johnsen, and his siblings, Marianne (Sam) Baines and Rosemarie (Fred) Zillner.

Along with his parents, Ken was preceded by his siblings, Gerald Johnsen, Kai S. Johnsen, Joe Hayden, and Judy Atzel.
In accordance with Ken’s wishes his service will be held privately. Interment with full military honors will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
