Kenosha – Kenneth W. Steenhagen, 81, of Kenosha, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, with his family by his side.  Ken was born in Muskegon, MI, on April 13, 1932, son of the late Henry and Minnie Steenhagen.

Ken proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He was a school teacher at Lincoln Junior High in Kenosha for 25 years retiring in 1991.  He put his love for gardening to work with his own landscaping business, Ken's Lawn Kare for over 15 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working with friend and fellow retired teacher, Jim Hansen, at Hansen's Gardens.  He loved traveling, gardening and fishing.  Above all, Ken treasured the time spent with his family.  He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Ken leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 28 happy years, Lynn Steenhagen; his children, Colleen Steenhagen, Corey Steenhagen, Shawn (Rhonda) Steenhagen, Cameron (Nami) Steenhagen; Lynn's children, Stephanie Busby, Lisa Busby, Keith Busby; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Steenhagen; sisters, Barb Smith, Pat (Fred) Powlenko; step-brother, Bob (Margaret) Mowers; and brother-in-law, Joseph Lakatos.

In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brother, Bill (Jennie) Steenhagen; sister, Alice Lakatos; sister-in-law, Shirley Steenhagen; and brother-in-law, Frank Smith.

A celebration of Ken's life will take place on Monday, October 14, 2013, 6:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Dan Petersen officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00pm until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, please remember Ken's life with a memorial to Hospice Alliance of Pleasant Prairie.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt "Thank You" to Hospice Alliance, especially Joann and Mary, for the love and care that they gave to Ken in his time of illness.
