Obituary

Kent Peter Zierten, age 67, of Racine, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, following a seven-month battle with cancer. Kent was born in Racine, WI on November 22, 1954, a son of the late Robert J. and Jeanne I. (nee: Rapps) Zierten.

He was a lifelong resident of Racine County where he graduated from Horlick High School in 1972.  As an adult, he worked for a time as the parts manager at Garbo Motors, then went to work with WE Energies, where he retired as a plant operator in 2018.

Kent is survived by his life partner of twenty years and spouse of four months, David J. DiPalma; his brothers, Mark (Ethel), Lee (Mary Anne), Guy (Justine), Dale (Suzi), and Robert and his sister, Diedre Dumont.

Kent was a hardworking, compassionate, dedicated, honest, and loving man.  He had a strong affinity for cars of all types and styles, various forms of art, and fine food (both cooking and eating), hosting many dinner parties and barbeques.  He liked contemporary jazz and a wide variety of classic rock.

He loved his dogs very much and treated them more as his children than just pets – they were truly spoiled.  He also loved riding his Harleys or cruising his various sports cars, taking long road trips in search of new experiences and beautiful scenery.  He enjoyed spending quality family time with his husband and girls at their camper in Door County.

His generous nature compelled him to help everyone he could, however he could, usually without needing to be asked.  He loved working with his hands and helping others with various remodeling and custom electrical projects.  He was a great mentor to many, teaching them skills they showed interest in learning.  Combined with great compassion, he was also making donations to a wide variety of charities.

Kent's life has proven to be a positive force for good.  He touched uncountable souls that will miss him sorely and remember him fondly.
