Kim (Kimmy) McWhorter 59, on the dawn of a new day she was called Home by her Loving Savior on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 surrounded by her family at St. Catherine's Medical Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on April 29, 1958 to James and Maggie (nee: Roberson) McWhorter.
Kim was employed as a Dental Assistant at the Southern Wisconsin Center for over 20 years. She was a long-time member of AFSCME Local #892 where she was elected Recording Secretary and served in that capacity for over a decade. Kim was an enthusiastic advocate for union workers. She attended many state and national union conventions and was also active in the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and the Racine Labor Council.
Kim was also an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She did not meet any strangers. Despite battling MS for many years, Kim never gave up her will to be independent. She was a fighter and never complained. She accepted Christ at a very young age and served as a Sunday School teacher and devoted choir member at St. John's Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder EC Carter. Kim last attended Greater Grace Temple Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Maggie McWhorter, siblings, Ronald (Mu'minah) Mahdi, of Boston, Gail McWhorter, Debbie (Lionel) Perkins, Rodney (Kerrisha) McWhorter, all of Racine. Kim is further survived by her nieces, nephews, special cousins Tammie and Denise McWhorter, special friends Mildred Monroe and Jana Weaver and a host of other relatives and friends.
