Kurt Eric
Maxey
Jun 17, 1970 — Oct 18, 2024
Kurt Eric Maxey died unexpectedly at home October 18, 2024, in Racine, Wisconsin at the age of 54.
Born on June 17, 1970, he attended Mary D. Bradford High School graduating in 1988 and Concordia College earning a BBA in 2001.
Kurt is survived by Katherine (nee: Foley), his loving wife of 20 years; his adoring daughter, Emily; his proud parents, David and Susan (nee: Olsen) Maxey; Kurt's best friend and brother, Scott Maxey (Barb Christensen); along with Kurt's faithful sister, Krista St. Louis (Steve); caring sisters-in-law Stephanie Foley and Elizabeth Schuessler (John). Kurt is also survived by his nephew, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Kurt had a strong work ethic; he was a dependable employee and effective manager. Kurt had many passions and hobbies. Kurt loved to cook, and grilling was his specialty. Everyone always came up for seconds if Kurt was cooking, especially if it was his brisket. With his cooking talent, Kurt ensured his wife, daughter, friends, and family never left the Maxey house hungry. Kurt dominated Fantasy Football, winning 10+ championships over the years. Kurt enjoyed estate sales and loved to hunt for a good deal. He was a collector of collectibles: vintage lunch boxes, sports memorabilia, old concert t-shirts, beer signs and movie posters. These treasures filled the basement, otherwise known as "Kurt's lair". Kurt loved traveling the world and trying new things. He golfed at St. Andrews, climbed a mountain in Germany, and walked up countless stairs in Austria. Kurt was willing to try the local cuisine wherever he traveled, whether in Scotland, Singapore, Germany or Prague. The best word to describe Kurt is fierce, fierce in his travels and fierce in life. Kurt was both fun and funny. The one person he made laugh the most was his daughter Emily; they were kindred spirits. Trust that no one will ever forget his humor, because those laughs will last a lifetime. He will be genuinely missed. Kurt was and will always be "The Favorite" of his family.
