Lamar Lyons, age 60, peacefully passed away on Saturday September 20, 2025 at his home holding the hand of his brother, Willie. Lamar was born on November 1, 1964 to Rev. Willie Lyons and Robbie Lyons (Williams) in Jackson, Tennessee with three other siblings known as the Lyons’s Quads of Maury City, Tennessee.

Lamar was named after the Family physician, “Dr. Lamar White” of Friendship, Tennessee. Lamar was a graduate of William Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin. Lamar had a gift for cooking. He was known to always prepare four course meals that were enjoyed by his family, especially his mom.

Lamar’s career centered around food service which included SC Johnson, Hardee’s and various other food chain.  Lamar enjoyed spending time with his family, including twin brother. He and his brother Willie would relax at night by having tea before going to bed. This was a was a special time for them.

Lamar provided care for our mom, even though he was sick himself. There was nothing too good for mom, that any of us wouldn’t do. Our Queen and King met him at the gate and welcomed him home to the kingdom. Lamar gave his life fully and completely to God in recent years, trusting in God through his health crisis.

Lamar was preceded in death by his father, Rev Willie Grant Lyons; his mother, Robbie Mae Lyons; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Jerry Williams; and, sister Toni Ann.

Lamar is survived by his three children: Sabrina (Austin) Richardson of Memphis, Tennessee; Lakiesha Lyons of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Grant Lyons of Racine, Wisconsin; and 10 grandchildren, Michah Hill, M’Kaila Hill, Adrien Hill, Sean Lyons, A’Mia Richardson, Alvia Richardson, Avery Richardson, Brian Ward and Brison Ward.  Lamar’s children Sabrina, LaKeisha and Grant meant the world to him.

Lamar is further survived by nine siblings, Willie Mae Hill, St. Francis, WI; Mark Lyons, Suvilla Lyons, Kent Lyons, Burnett Lyons, Burnell Lyons, Willie Lyons, all of Racine, Wisconsin; Carline Lyons-Juniel & Polly Lyons, both of Minnesota. He is further survived by his last living aunt, Pastor Stella Johnson, of Toledo, Ohio.

Lamar is also survived by his special niece, Latonya Anderson; special nephew, Maurice Evans; friend,  Lisa Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Family would like to acknowledge Ascension, Aurora, and staff of the Hospice Alliance for the care they have shown our brother over the past two and half years.

Family would also like to thank Pastor Buddy and 1st Lady Lois Vinson for their support and spiritual guidance as well as continued love shown to our family.

Special thanks to our little sister, Burnett Lyons, who took such great care of our little brother to the end.

From Lamar’s children: Dad was a simple and humble man who loved his children. He always put a smile on our face and had a good heart. We will miss him fiercely, but we are at peace knowing he is no longer suffering.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Buddy Vinson officiating. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.

Testimonials

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didn’t stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
