Pleasant Prairie – LaVerne E. Turek, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. She was born in Racine on August 29, 1931, daughter of the late Werner and Linnie (nee: Kohtanan) Hoglund. LaVerne married Thomas E. Turek on November 10, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2013.

LaVerne was a kind and generous lady that found joy in helping others, and if you were a friend of hers you were a friend for life. Her family was most important to her, and she took great pride in caring for and providing a home for them. She especially enjoyed making special meals for her family, including traditional Swedish Christmas dinners. LaVerne was a former member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

LaVerne is survived by her children: Barbara (Perry) Blaski of Pleasant Prairie, and Wayne (Debra) Turek of Racine; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

In keeping with her wishes, a private service was held in the chapel at West Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, May 22, 2015.
