Lawrence Ray Smith, age 55, affectionately known as "Fruge" by his loved ones; passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at home in St. Paul, MN on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Larry was born in Racine, WI on November 29, 1970, son of Linda Coleman and Lawrence Johnson. A graduate of William Horlick High School, he went on to earn his bachelor degree from Globe College University in International Business. Larry served the St. Paul, MN area with Lutheran Social Services as an account specialist for the past 20 years. Larry's life was devoted to his career, his 2 daughters and his grandson. Fruge loved music…every day ended with him listening to old school songs.

Surviving are his mother, Linda Coleman; father, Lawrence Johnson; daughters, Lavasha Smith and Mya Smith; grandson, Tyzjasun Sims; siblings, Twilia, Anthony, Kenneth (Bertha) and Orlando; God-Daughter, Madison Johnston; favorite aunt, Rosalie Kirk; faithful friends, Patrick & Susan Pierce; many other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by grandparents, Lorretta & Edgar Smith and Tarry & Addie Johnson; brother, Darrell Smith; special aunt, Celia Smith; step-father, Gregory Coleman.

Services will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 -1:00 pm.
