Racine, WI. – Lee A. Thomas was born on July 4, 1929 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the union of Alex Thomas and Lodie Kyles.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of the Midtown Church of Christ. He faithfully served and attended regularly until he was unable to do so due to health and aging.

Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Emma Ragland, whom he loved and cherished until the time of her passing in 2008.

Lee A. Thomas enlisted into the United States Army in 1946 where he dutifully served as a Medical Corpsman in the 307th Air Base Service Squadron until he was discharged July 4, 1949 with full honors from the MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.

Mr. Thomas was a loyal and committed employee of the Southern Wisconsin Colony until the time of his retirement.

Lee A. Thomas peacefully departed this life at his residence on Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was proceeded in death by his father, Alex, his mother, Lodie, his wife, Emma, his siblings, Boisey Thomas, Larry Thomas, Emma Lee Thomas, and Carlton Thomas. He leaves to cherish loving memories, his daughter, Della Powell of Racine, WI, and his son, Lester Shackleford of Los Angeles, CA, two (2) siblings, his brother, George Thomas, and sister, Jeanette Tillman. Also left to mourn his memories are his four (4) grandsons, Gregory (Kelly) Powell, Ronald (Ruby) Powell both of Racine, WI, and Jeffery Shackleford, and Brian Shackleford of Los Angeles, CA. He will be missed by his two (2) great grandsons, Trevor and Gregory Powell of Racine, WI, and great granddaughter, Monique Bryson of Madison, WI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lee enjoyed listening to music, taking long drives, and spending time with family. On any given day he could be found watching westerns and tuning into MSNBC to stay abreast of current and political affairs. He believed in his civic right and duty to vote, casting his last ballot in April 2021. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Uncle Thomas it was always so great seeing you when the family would visit you and Aunt Emma in Racine. Vincent and I always looked forward to your jokes and wonderful laugh.
You really loved driving us around town, fast, and we would tease you and hear that great laugh. There is no question that you will be missed and that you take our love with you.

Testimonials

February 20, 2019

Mike and his team did a fabulous job with the memorial service for our Mom. It was perfect and he made the process easy for me to go through during such a difficult time. She had chosen the funeral home before hand, and she made the right choice. The service was beautiful, simple, and sweet. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
