Lee Peters, Jr., 81, passed away at Ascension- All Saints on Monday, November 21, 2022, surrounded by his children. He was born in Beggs, Oklahoma on 15 August 1941, the son of the late Lee and Trulye (nee: Warren) Peters, Sr. He moved with his parents to Columbus, Ohio as a young child and graduated from Linden-McKinley High School in 1958.

Lee served his country with the U.S. Marines from 1960 until 1964. On 11 June 1965 he was united in marriage to Marsha Dickinson, who preceded him in death on 15 September 2002. He graduated from the Ohio State Patrol Academy in 1966 before moving with Marsha to Racine, Wisconsin.

Lee was employed by S.C. Johnson and Son at the Waxdale plant for over 30 years. He was a member of JMBA and the Johnson 30 Year Club. Lee played softball, basketball and bowled on S.C. Johnson teams. He was an avid martial arts practitioner and teacher, having practiced Karate, Tae Kwan Do, Aikido and Judo. Lee also practiced yoga and meditation.

Lee was an avid traveler. He was well known for his 30-day motor home vacations where he would drive the family across the US and Canada to see the sights. He traveled all over the world to see his kids or just to go to places he'd never been. In addition to leisure travel, he would frequently just turn up at your door step. You never knew when to expect him. He would drive across the country to check on you, attend a funeral, birthday, or retirement, and then disappear just as quickly as he arrived. He encouraged his younger family members and family friends, sending money for good report cards and encouraging them in sports and other hobbies. He was a kind and generous man who touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Surviving Lee are his three children, Christina (Benjamin Luster) Peters-Luster, of Baltimore, MD, Captain Lee Peters, III, of Stafford, VA, and Catharine Peters, of Racine; three grandchildren, Kiana (Michael) Sherrow of Las Vegas, NV, Jadyn and Benjamin "Grayson" Peters-Luster both of Baltimore, MD; and two great-grandchildren Stella and Carter Sherrow, both of Las Vegas, NV.

Service Details

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, November 27 ^th at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 O'clock until the time of the service. Full military honors will follow.
