LeeEllen F. Stolp, 85, passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice in Oak Creek, WI, on Monday, April 19, 2021. Lee Ellen was born in Sheboygan, WI, on March 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Arno and Isabel (nee: Swan) Bartel.

After graduating from Sheboygan High School in 1954, LeeEllen received a Bachelor of Science in physical education from University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. Following graduation, she taught in Racine at McKinley Junior High School where she met the love of her life, George Stolp. On October 17, 1959, LeeEllen married George at St. Clements Catholic Church in Sheboygan. After becoming certified for adaptive physical education and taking time off while her children were small, LeeEllen resumed teaching for the Racine Unified School District and ultimately retired from Garfield School.

Throughout her life, LeeEllen enjoyed camping and the outdoors. She spent her youth as first a camper then a counselor at Evelyn Heironymus Girl Scout Camp, in Plymouth, WI. She also worked at Camp Highlands and spent many pleasant weekends camping with her family and friends. LeeEllen was a sociable woman and loved visiting with friends, neighbors, fellow teachers, and her family. She and George relished dinners with their small group and large group and afternoons and evenings playing cribbage and bridge. Her dogs were a big part of her life, and she was wonderful with children, with a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding her bike and cheering for Wisconsin sports teams. Go Packers!

Surviving LeeEllen are her husband, George Stolp;  their four daughters, Keri (David) Fisher, Joleen (Benjamin) August, Sandra (John) Wood, and Georgia (Rick) Holaus; grandchildren, Christopher (Julie) Fisher, Melissa (Daniel) Nelson, Erin (Zachary) Carson, Alexander August, Nicole (Jorge) Zamarripa, James Serum-Wood, Addison Wood, Harrison Wood, Bradyn Holaus, Teagan Holaus, and Devin Holaus; and great-grandchildren, Naomi Fisher, Anaiah and Adley Nelson, August Carson, and Joseph and Graciela Zamarripa. Being a loving woman with a warm heart, Lee Ellen is also survived by so many who loved her, including nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Lee Ellen's family would like to thank her caretakers with Seasons Hospice, and the kind nurses and staff at Primrose Retirement Community for the compassionate care of their beloved wife and mother.

Service Details

A celebration of LeeEllen's life will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 5 ^th at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. William Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home that Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to  the West Racine Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund. The service will be lived streamed beginning at 2:45 p.m. at the link below. Due to COVID-19, there will be a limit of 50 attendees that will have to be masked and adhere to social distant.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society-Racine Campus or the West Racine Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund.
