Franksville—Leslie G. Fregien, age 64 passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2013.
Les was born in Burlington, WI, son of Walter and Ruth (Schulz) Fregien of Waterford. He was a graduate of Racine Lutheran High School and UTI Milwaukee, where he obtained an Associate Degree in Electronics. Les began his career at Simplex as an Electronic Technician. Later, he became an insurance agent for Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL), where he worked with local church congregations in S.E. WI., and was a member of the national Million Dollar Round Table for many years. He carried professional titles of CLU, ChFC, LUTCF-FIC, and went on to work independently for many insurance companies including Johnson Insurance, and Mass Mutual.
Les was a musician, playing bass guitar and singing for several bands including Shades of Dawn, Night Train, and Chip and the Dips, and he was a member of the Racine Curling Club and Racine Country Clubs respectively for many years as well. He was mostly known however, as a gardener and natural pond enthusiast, spending countless hours working in his yard with his wife, Mary. He will be very sadly missed.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Fregien, brother in-law Charles Schultz, and sister in-law Suzanne Fregien.
Les is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Mary; two children, Scott (Carrie), Nathan (Elisa); sisters and brothers, Nancy Schulz, Gerry Fregien, Pat (Rick Zimbric), Kathy Roby (Howard Fahje), Beth Brockman (Clark Krieger), Dan (Terrie) Fregien, and Sue Fregien (Jim Johnston); brother and sister in law Clifford and Linda Lentz; grandchildren Ethan, Morgan, Madisen, Conner, Gavin, and Avery.
Family and Friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1:00p.m.for a service celebrating and remembering Les's life with Rev. Kara Baylor officiating. There will be time to meet and visit with his family on Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations be sent to the Hope Safe House in Racine, or your favorite charity, in Les's name. Please visit the funeral home's website if you wish to send condolences to the family.
The Fregien family wishes to thank the Raymond Fire and Rescue Department and the entire ER staff at WHF- All Saints; especially Chaplain Scott, for the professional and compassionate care they received on Saturday.
