Memorial Suggestions

Linda Ann Lewis, 68 years young, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday evening, February 7, 2026, after a courageous 9-month battle with sarcoma. She was surrounded by love from her mom, sisters, family, and friends and was comforted by her favorite worship songs while receiving prayers for peace & gratitude from her loved ones.

Linda was born in Beloit, WI on October 5, 1957, to Robert & Betty (nee: Bisser) Lewis. She was a graduate of JI Case High School in 1975 and went on to earn her degree from UW-Oshkosh in 1978.

Linda was united in marriage with the love of her life, Dennis C. Steinke, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2018. After his untimely passing, Linda traveled across the US and Canada in her RV with her beloved dog, Vinny.

A dedicated professional, Linda served as the Regional Director for the Department of Transportation, retiring after more than 30 years. In retirement, she taught “English as a Second Language” for the Madison School District. With an extreme passion for helping others in need, Linda volunteered extensively at literacy centers, food banks, homeless shelters, and animal shelters. She was a quiet, rather private, promoter of common good through acts of time, talent, and great financial donation.

Linda was a faithful and proud member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection where she enjoyed praising and worshipping her Lord & Savior- Jesus Christ. She was an avid quilter, having been active with her church’s quilting group, the Lighthouse Quilters and had a small part-time job at Millhouse Quilts in retirement.

Surviving are her mother, Betty Lewis; sisters, Paula (Guy) Breese, Mary Lewis (Tom Wolfenberger), Virginia (Todd) Schuh and Roberta “Bobbie” Lewis; step-son, Damon Steinke; nieces & nephews (of whom Linda loved as her own), Joseph (Kat) Breese, Ben (Haylea) Breese, James (Brandon) Boblin, Michael Boblin, Katelyn Wolfenberger, Anna Wolfenberger, Megan Bell, Sarah Anderson, Abigail (Brian) Jones, Melissa (Cody) Lawson, Kristy (Brenton) Rabe, Kayla (Troy) Theis and Dante Lewis; canine companion, Vinny; nine great-nieces & nephews and devoted friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

Linda was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Dennis Steinke; father, Robert Lewis; and nephew, Jacob Breese.

Services celebrating Linda’s life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (322 Ohio Street in Racine, WI) on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 12:00 noon with Pastor John Anderson officiating. A luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and in the church on Friday from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon.

My deepest sympathy to all. The world lost a great person. My heart aches for Vinney. She was a neighbor, friend and fellow quilter. I am grateful for the time I had but wanted more quilting wisdom. She will be dearly missed. Give extra hugs and pets on the head to Vinny for me

Linda was one of my very best quilting friends. We had many great times together at quilt retreats and at the family cabin relaxing and sewing. Linda was such a special compassionate person, I will miss her terribly.

My daughter & I used to live across the street from Linda a few years ago. I’m so sorry to hear about her passing. She was the nicest lady. I always enjoyed her daily visits with her dog Vinny when they would be out walking. She will be missed. RIP Linda.

Testimonials

Service for Judy Moungey

Mike and his team did a fabulous job with the memorial service for our Mom. It was perfect and he made the process easy for me to go through during such a difficult time. She had chosen the funeral home before hand, and she made the right choice. The service was beautiful, simple, and sweet. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
