Racine – Lois R. Johnson, 72, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital following a recent and sudden illness. She was born in Bemidji, Minnesota on June 9, 1942, daughter of the late Hilding and Alfhild (nee: Husby) Blade. Lois graduated from Racine Lutheran High School; and was a member of the first graduating class from UW-Parkside. She was married in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on February 20, 1965 to Gerald "Jerry" Johnson. Lois and Jerry were eagerly looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Lois worked for 20 years in the Racine Unified School District as an educational assistant until she retired in 1998. The love for her family knew no bounds, and she was always in the company of one her grandchildren. Lois enjoyed occasional casino excursions; loved her coffee; and was a dyed-in-the-wool Drum Corps fan.

Lois will be missed by her husband of nearly 50 years, Jerry Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; their children, Jerry (Christine) Johnson of Slidell, Louisiana, Steve (Susanne) Johnson of Racine, and Debbie (Rob) Jankowski of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Colin, Keely, Alec, Aimee, Alyse, and Aaron. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Tom Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11am on Thursday, August 21, 2014. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will also be in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5pm-7pm; and Thursday beginning at 10am.
