Pleasant Prairie – Lois Rose, age 94, departed this world to her heavenly reward through Jesus Christ at Hospice House – Hospice Alliance, Pleasant Prairie on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Lois was born in Racine, WI on August 7, 1930, daughter of Harold and Gertrude (nee: Beth) Miller. She was united in marriage to Edward P. Rose at St. John's Lutheran Church on August 13, 1960, and remained a member at St. John's for 64 years.

She attended the Rapids School in Racine for elementary school, Washington Junior High and graduated from William Horlick High School in 1948.

Her first employment during high school was at the Horlick Riding Academy near the family farm where she cared for horses, gave riding lessons, and doted on "Sweetheart".  After graduating high school she was employed at Western Printing as an office worker.  After marrying Ed and becoming a stay-at-home Mom for 5 years, in 1967, she returned to work in her Father's former workshop which housed the startup operations of Plastic Parts Incorporated.  She followed Plastic Parts as it grew, expanded, and relocated to Union Grove, and continued to manage the front office there until her retirement in 1988.  Lois enjoyed traveling with her Husband, and her church's 55 Plus club to various locations around the Midwest.  Later, bus casino trips with friends and family occupied her time.

Lois is survived by a son, Fred (Debbi) Rose of Kenosha, granddaughter Heather Rose of Kenosha, and great-grandchildren Ava and Cam.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.  Also her precious, adopted cat, Gracie.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, her parents, mother and father in-law, and her 6 siblings – Doris Hromadka, Shirley Vorlob, Ralph Miller, Harvey Miller, Burton Miller, and Cliff Miller.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Robin Way-Eagle Senior living where Lois spent her last years.  Additionally, the nurses, aides, staff, and doctors at Ascension-All Saints Racine – floor C2 made her last days more comfortable.  The staff at Hospice House- Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie gave Lois and her family special love and comfort in her last days.

Service Details

Services for Lois will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie Street, Racine on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 11:30AM. Visitation will be in church on Monday from 10:30am until the time of service.  Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorials in Lois's name may be made to Racine Lutheran High School, or Mathias Academy – a community for autistic adults where Lois's great-granddaughter will attend.
