Obituary

Loren Bernard Drissel, 86, of Mount Pleasant, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep early on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Lincoln Park Nursing Home.

He was born in Kenosha, WI, on June 16, 1939, the son of the late Bernard and Bernice (nee: Stollenwerk) Drissel.  Loren was born the second of five children.  He attended St. John's Grade School and Salem Central High School and then worked at American Motors.

On Nov. 29, 1969 he was united in marriage to Pauline R Cooper at St. Edward Catholic Church in Racine.  They settled on the family farm in Paris where Loren worked as a dairy farmer until 1976 when he converted to raising beef and cash crops.  Loren remained on the farm, which was his greatest love outside of his family, for the first 75 years of his life, before relocating to a new home in Mount Pleasant, WI in 2014.  Loren retired from farming full-time in 1990 and then worked at Maple Leaf Duck Farm until he retired in 2004.

In his younger years, Loren enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling to different locations throughout the USA.  Loren always enjoyed driving or taking rides throughout the countryside, watching old westerns and civil war movies, listening to 50's and 60's music, and most of all spending time with his family.

Loren would always make time to play with his children after long days working in the fields.  He was the best grandpa (Poppy) Britt could have ever asked for.  He had a lifetime of memories that he enjoyed sharing with his family and will always be remembered for his loving spirit, his kindness, patience, hard work and sense of humor.  He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was a devoted Catholic and spent most of his life as a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paris and eventually transitioned to St. Lucy Catholic Church in Racine.

Loren is survived by his wife Pauine Drissel of Mount Pleasant, his children Suzanne Drissel of Mount Pleasant and Michael Drissel (James Martin) of Greenfield; granddaughter, Brittany Hardy of Mount Pleasant; sisters Eileen (Richard) Doyle of Sturtevant and Rita (Nickolas) Arnold of Kenosha; brother Roger (Jann) Drissel of Burlington; sister-in-law Jan Cooper of Lake Wales, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Janet (Drissel) and Robert Hamilton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Barbara and Clarence Cramer, Walter and Arlene Cooper and Jack Cooper.

A Catholic service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant, WI 53403 . Visitation for Loren will begin at 10:00 a.m. Directly following the service Loren will be laid to rest to at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Villa at Lincoln Park and everyone with Legacy Hospice for their care and compassion.
