Lura Delois
Mcwhorter
Mar 7, 1965 — Jul 22, 2024
RACINE – Lura (Nee:Marsh) McWhorter was called home in the early morning hours of Monday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Lura (Lois) daughter of the late Joseph Marsh and Margaret (Nee: Williams) Harris, was born on March 7, 1965 in Racine, WI. Lois accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and began her Christian journey at Midtown Church of Christ.
Lois enjoyed county living making Mississippi home for many years, before planting her roots in Racine, WI. On June 4, 2011 Lois was united in marriage to Jeff B. McWhorter Jr., after the loss of her first husband Nathaniel Starks.
Lois's life was a testament to the power of love, fun, and creativity. She enjoyed an array of hobbies, including playing bingo, cards, shopping, crafting, sewing, and baking homemade pound cakes. Her beautiful personality lit up every room she entered, and her presence guaranteed good times, hearty laughter, and meaningful conversations. Lois had a flair for fashion; She loved her jogging suits but knew precisely how to jazz up her appearance at a moment's notice with her fancy denim outfits. She loved spending time and cooking for family and friends (which would usually end up becoming extended family to her).
Lois was a beacon of love, a motherly figure to many. She opened her heart and her home providing guidance, nourishment, & unwavering support to all who crossed her path. Although she was dealing with health issues, her kindness had no boundaries and her listening ear was always open to offer comfort and solace. Lois will forever be remembered as a nurturing soul and a great mother to many.
She is survived by her husband; Jeff McWhorter Jr. Children; Lakeisha (Lee) Oakley, Keonia Saunders, Jeremy and Elijua Smith, Devon McWhorter. Grandchildren; Aiyonta Willis, Keishawn Johnson, Lerie Oakley, Elijua (EJ) Smith, Kyler Oakley, Journee, Akeria, and Jalen Smith, Noiree Oakley. Great Grandchildren; Kennedi Lynch and Miles Willis. We find comfort in the beautiful memories Lois has left behind. Lois, your legacy of love, and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing you. Lois McWhorter will be missed dearly.
