Magdalen J. Arne, 76, passed away in St. Francis Medical Center, Milwaukee, on Sunday, March 21, 2010. She was born in Appleton, Minnesota, on August 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Albert and Magdalene (nee: Koniczny ) Heldt. Mrs. Arne was a graduate of St. Catherine University School of Nursing, St. Paul, Minnesota. On June 9, 1956, in St. John Catholic Church in Appleton, Minnesota, she was united in marriage to Raymond J. Arne who preceded her in death on March 14, 1998. She was a registered nurse for Ridgewood Care Center. She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, the Racine County Retirees, and the retired nurses luncheon group. Mrs. Arne loved math, was well read in financial estate planning and taxation, and would have made one last trip to Las Vegas if she was able. Surviving are her children; Gretchen (David) Gospodarek, of Medina, MN, Steven Arne, of Oak Creek, WI, Robert (Suzanne) Arne, of Colgate, WI; 4 grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Gospodarek, and Michelle and Patrick Arne; sisters, Harriett Hanson, of Apple Valley, MN, Alice Strand, of Alexandria, MN; and brother, Albert Heldt, of Appleton, MN; brother-in-law Roger Perkins, of Kimball, MN. Her nieces, nephews other relatives and friends further survive her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Caroline Perkins and Marjorie Stock. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27th, in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or St. Catherine's University- St. Paul, MN. The family extends sincere thanks to all those who cared for Magdalen during her illness and special recognition to the compassionate care of her cardiologist, Dr. Farzad Kamrani.
