Racine – Margery A. (nee: Peil) Hansen, 78, passed away peacefully at Becker-Shoop Center on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Marge was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 7, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Elizabeth E. (nee: Shea) Peil. She graduated from St. Rose Grade School in 1951 and from St. Catherine’s High School in 1955. On February 1, 1958 in St. Rose Catholic Church, Marge was united in marriage with the love of her life, Eugene W. Hansen, who preceded her in death on August 31, 2009.
Although tending to her family of seven children was her lifelong vocation, Marge was employed as a greeting card specialist at Canteen Pharmacy and Walgreen’s – retiring January 7, 2000. Marge was an extremely proud and dedicated member of St. Lucy Catholic Church – where she was active with the school, Altar Society, Round Robin, Catholic Women’s Club, and was a prayer warrior with the daily
Mass / Rosary group – which has a tremendous devotion to the Blessed Mother. Marge & Gene also were longtime members of the Goldfinger Investment Club. Among other interests, Marge enjoyed playing cards, embroidery, tending to her feline companions, and was notorious for remembering all of her loved ones on holidays & birthdays….which always included a “2-Dollar-Bill”. Marge was sweet, kind and loving to all…who was constantly concerned about the wellbeing of others. May she now rest in peace.
Surviving are her children, Lynn (Ron) Vokes, Diane (James) Nelsen, Rev. Fr. Stephen Hansen, Gail (Scott) Harmann, Patrick (Laurel) Hansen, Karen (Rudy) Guajardo and Craig Hansen; grandchildren, Rebecca and Rachel Gomez, Christopher Vokes, Jennifer (Michael) Small; Erin (fiance’, Phil Ellsworth), Kevin (fiance’, Becca Pruess) and Kurtis Nelsen; Alex and Kyle Harmann; James and Catherine Hansen; Austin Hansen; and Kolton Spranger; great-grandchildren, Alyson, Olivia and Delaney Small; sister, Maryellen Hable; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Raymond) Organ, Dorothy (James) Kober, Kathleen (Robert) Teska and Jean Kaisler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marge was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Alice) Hansen and Richard Hable; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Clark) Marsh and Lorraine (William) Kaisler; and by Gene’s parents, Walter and Catherine (nee: Gizinski) Hansen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Stephen E. Hansen (Marge’s son) officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. A Life Celebration luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:30 pm (Vigil Service & Rosary at 6:30 pm) and in the church on Tuesday from 10-11 am. In memory of Marge, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Rev. Fr. Mark R. Jones, Dr. Richard Clark, Home Inspired Senior Living, Wheaton Franciscan All Saints 3C and Becker-Shoop Center for the compassionate care and support given in our Mom’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
