Racine – Marguerite A. Whiteaker, 99, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, November 2, 2014.  She was born in Hale, Missouri on April 7, 1915, daughter of the late Elmer and Ruth (nee: Warnick) Fields.

Marguerite graduated from Shawnee Mound High School in Missouri in 1933.  She was united in marriage to the late Robert Eugene Whiteaker on August 15, 1936, in Platt City, Missouri. They moved to Racine in 1940. Marguerite was a Sunday School Superintendent, and volunteered for twenty five years at St. Mary's Hospital and Wheaton Franciscan All Saints. She also worked as a meat wrapper for the A&P and Chopiak's Grocery Store.

Marguerite was an expert seamstress, loved to crochet, and enjoyed spending time making ceramics.  She spent many hours creating clothing, afghans, and other crafts throughout the years. Marguerite was also known for making delicious homemade candy for her family and friends at Christmas.  She treasured her family and loved every minute spent with them.  Marguerite will be dearly missed.

Marguerite leaves to cherish her memory, her children, William (Marlene) Whiteaker of Bloomington, IL, Gloria Coombs of Racine; grandchildren, Todd Coombs of Shell Lake, Tammy (Rollie) Benzow of Racine, Dale (Robbyn) Coombs of Racine, Douglas Whiteaker of Sacramento, Kimberly (Ernesto) Monreal of Naperville, IL; Great-grandchildren are Jerime (Nikki) Benzow, Jake (Carla) Benzow, Danielle Benzow, Kate (Dave) Wagner, Zachary and Alex Coombs, Mason Monreal, Harmony and Holden Whiteaker; twelve great-great-grandchildren are Maddy, Emma, Connor, Meagan, Gabe, Brady, Jake Jr., Cody, Lukas, Sara, Sunny, and Eric; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite is preceded in death by her brothers, Harry and Edward; and sister, Ethel.

A celebration of Marguerite's life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, 7:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will be from 5:00pm until the time of the service.  Burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, November 7, 2014, 2:00pm.

The family would like to extend a "Thank You" to the staff at Ridgewood Care Center and the staff at Hospice Alliance for the care given to Marguerite.
