Maria Guadalupe Carbajal passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on July 13, 2023. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Crescencio Elizondo Carbajal. She was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 25, 1934, the daughter of proud migrant workers, the late Jesus and Antonia (Nieto) Cantu.
She met the love of her life in Arkansas in 1953 and on October 29th, 1955, in Immaculate Conception Church, Blytheville, Arkansas, she was united in marriage with Crescencio, who preceded her in death on April 10, 2019.
Maria was a member of St. Lucy's Catholic Church. Maria's world revolved around her family. She cherished spending time with all her loved ones, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her heart was the happiest when she was with them.
Maria will be forever remembered by her children, David (Annette) Carbajal, Diana Carbajal, all of Racine, Irma (Mark) Servais, of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Sylvia (Jason) Rugh, of Racine, and grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Carbajal, Melinda (Willie) Vaughn, Timothy Olsen, Richard (Maddie)Carbajal, Phillip (Christina) Jardina, Julia (Emilio) Damian, Dena (Dante) Galati, Jacob Olsen, Patti (Cody) Bush, Tony Jardina, Zoe Servais, and Lucas Servais, and great-grandchildren, Peyton (Naomi) and Ethan Meeks, Hailey (Brad) and Damian Vaughn, Cheyenne Olsen, Jovani Amaya, Eric, Isaiah, and Liliana Carbajal, Mason Jardina, Mario, Emilio, Melanie, Santino, and Manolo Damian, Mariana Porcaro, Danae and Valaya Galati, and Cara and Carter Bush.
Maria was the oldest of 12 siblings who loved her dearly. She is survived by siblings, Jesus Cantu Jr., San Juana Cantu, Jose (Janie) Cantu and Evangelina (Ben) Bareza; brother-in-law, David Nicholls, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Maria was preceded in death by her son, Mario, and grandson, Christopher Eric Carbajal, and great-grandson, Samuel Meeks; sisters, Maria Cantu, Josefa Galvan, Delores Nicholls, Rosenda Lopez, Maria Herlinda Hanle,y and brothers, Vicente Cantu and Ramon Cantu,and dear nephew, Daniel M. Carbajal.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ascension—All Saints hospital staff on third floor rehab and 2C for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Dr. Durbin and Compassus Hospice. Your loving and professional care was greatly appreciated.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., on Thursday, July 20 th at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Mass will be live streamed at the link above.
