Obituary

RACINE – On Thursday July 14, 2022, Maria Danette Sims, 65, was called home by Jesus to receive her heavenly wings. Maria was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 26,1957, to Maurice and Dolores McConnell.

Maria attended Horlick High school in Racine, Wisconsin. Maria was married to Leander Collier, Jr. and then remarried to Jimmy Lee Sims on July 18, 1996, whom she was married to for 17 years. Maria was a retired employee of InSinkErator Manufacturing also located in Racine, Wisconsin. Maria's favorite hobbies and interests included watching her favorite soap operas, football (especially her favorite team, The San Francisco 49er's), The Olympics, Dancing With The Stars, as well as listening to music, and collecting and watching movies, she also loved to play the piano.

Surviving are her only child, Bryan (Jessica) Collier of Columbia, Tennessee; brother, Robert "Bobby" (Roxy) Williams of Detroit Michigan; niece, Tamia "Tammy" (John) Chappel of Round Lake, Illinois; nephews, Sterling and David Williams of Detroit, Michigan; great-nieces and nephews, Tyler Green of Racine, Wisconsin, Taylor Panell, Joshua Wiley and Jermiah Chappel all of Round Lake, Illinois; her extended children and family, Keontrae and Ryan Berryman, and Jimmy Lee Sims, Jr., Whitney Sims and her Goddaughter, Tiana Lutze of Racine, Wisconsin; various grandchildren, as well as many other extended family and friends and best friend since age 9, Diliah Hall and her family. Maria was preceded in death by her father, Maurice McConnell, mother, Dolores McConnell, ex husband/companion, Jimmy Lee Sims Sr., brother, Michael Williams, sisters, Benita Howze and Juanita McConnell and niece, Tiniesha (Muffin) Panell.

Maria's son, Bryan (Jessie) Collier, would also like to extend their humble thanks and gratitude to everyone who sent their condolences and/or donations for Maria's Memorial arrangements.
