Maria Laurentina Zuniga-Torres, 94, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 4, 2024. She was born in Victoria Guanajuato, Mexico, on May 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Jose and Piedad (nee: Mata) Zuniga.
On February 6, 1944, in Mante, Tamaulipas Mexico, she was united in marriage to Amado Padron Torres. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mrs. Zuniga-Torres enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, gardening, and especially cooking for her family.
Surviving are her two sons, Raymundo Torres, of West Palm Beach, FL, and Julio Torres, of Racine, five daughters, Maria (Ventura) Guzman, of Racine, Lucia (Michael) Williams, of Charleston, South Carolina, Blanca Hull, of San Antonio, Texas, Rosalinda Torres, of Racine, and Gloria (Jonathan) Lane, of Milwaukee; twelve grandchildren, Sonia (Michael) Ervin, Enrique (Melissa) Guzman, Rene Guzman, Eduardo Guzman, Amanda (Dan) Straub, Leticia (Thomas) Kutis, Jorge Lopez, Tony Lane, Erika Webster, Jose (Krystal) Torres, Gabriela Torres (Abraham Alcala), Heaven Rodriguez, Jesus Salinas, Sergio Torres (Brandy Mundy), Alberto (Enedelia) Torres; eighteen great grandchildren, Isabella and Jacob Ervin, Elaina and Elyse Guzman, Ian Straub, Lilliana and Aurora Kutis, Ava and Leilani Lopez, Dominic Webster, Samantha, Andrew, and Noah Alcala, Katarina Torres, Seth Torres, Xavier, Nathaniel, Nehmeiah, and Noah Torres; one sister in Mexico. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amado; two sons, Jose Torres, and Jesus Torres; son-in-law Russell Hull, and two daughters-in-law Clara Rose Torres and Lorena Torres.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
The family is extremely grateful for the care given to Mrs. Torres by Ascension All Saints, Dr. Pierce-Ruhland and Staff, the Aurora at Home Care Nurse team, especially Heather, Sue, Kelly, and Bernadette, and the Aurora Hospice Care Unit especially, Mary.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St. on Tuesday, March 12 th , at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday, March 11 th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m., and in the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
