Racine – Marie Landaal, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth Residence on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013.

Marie was born in Waupun, WI on December 28, 1920 to the late Lambert and Christina (nee: Reusink) Peters. She was a graduate of Waupun High School. On February 28, 1942 in Waupun, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, John M. Landaal. They moved to Racine in 1946.

John and Marie owned & operated Landaal's Paint and Interiors in Uptown Racine from 1961 until their retirement in 1985. Marie was also employed as a legal secretary/supervisor in the trust department for First National Bank.

Marie was a member of First Presbyterian Church and of the Racine Junior League. Among her interests, she enjoyed gardening, golfing and playing cards – especially Bridge. Above all, she was a phenomenal wife and mother who loved being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her children, Judy LaSorsa of Spring, TX; Susan (Jim) Luedtke, Kathryn Ricchio and John P. (Laurie) Landaal, all of Racine; grandchildren, Blake (Laura) Luedtke, Alyssa Luedtke, Carla (Erik) Stirle, Marcia (Sean) Rosenmarkel and Kristen Landaal; great-grandchildren, Madison and Gabriella Rosenmarkel; Miranda and Mallory Stirle; Brock, Karsten and Sutton Luedtke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, on March 24, 2004; infant daughter, Mary; and son-in-law, Richard LaSorsa.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Avenue, on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Fringer officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:00 – 11:00 am. In memory of Marie, memorials to First Presbyterian Church have been suggested.
