Marilliss Dougard

Feb 14, 1931 – Sep 8, 2015

Racine – Marilliss June Dougard, 84, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. She was born in Menominee, Michigan on February 14, 1931, daughter of the late Fred and Rose Mary (nee: Barrett) Utecht. She was married at St. Ann’s Church on August 29, 1953 to Leonard J. Dougard. Lenny preceded her in death on July 6, 2004. Marilliss lived most of her life in Racine, where she was initially employed at Western Printing and years later hired on as a kitchen supervisor at Mitchell school.

Marilliss enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, live music performances, playing cards and especially watching “Dancing with the Stars”.  In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and crocheted.   She never missed a chance to watch a Green Bay Packer or Milwaukee Brewer game on TV.  Above all, she enjoyed living at Lake Oaks Apartment’s, and sharing time with her family and friends.  Marilliss was a loving mother, showed compassion for others and was always cheerful and happy-go-lucky.

Marilliss is survived by her daughters: Patricia Ann (Kris) Koch of Amherst Junction, Jean Marie (Jeff) Clausen of Racine, and Janet Lynn (Steve) Huber of Concord, California; grandchildren: Ryan (Aimee) Koch, Andrew Koch, Jenna (David) Romito, and Dana Clausen; great-grandchildren; Jesse, Gracie and Robert, sister: Donna Mae (Don) Hall of Menominee, Michigan; brother: Wayne (Mary) Utecht of Appleton, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law: Lillian Dougard of Racine, and Shirley Dougard of Estero, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 6pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 4pm. Graveside services will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lucy’s Catholic Church or Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care have been suggested.

Marilliss’s family would like to express their appreciation for the care she received from Home Instead Senior Care – caregiver Ella, Ridgewood Care Center, Harmony Commons Assisted Living, Seasons Hospice and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints, especially Dr. Gullberg and staff.

I was sad to hear of your mother’s death and sorry that I couldn’t make it to the funeral. I always liked your mom so much and remember how funny she was when we were in high school. Sometimes more recently I would see her when we were both shopping at Value Village.
