Marilyn M. Sustachek, 90, passed away, peacefully, in the Harmony Assisted Living Center, on Thursday, December 27, 2012. She was born in Racine on August 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Bernal and Cecilia (nee: Bernhardt) Aseltine.
On July 10, 1948, in St. John Nepomuk Church, she was united in marriage to Calvin E. Sustachek.
Mrs. Sustachek had been employed as a bookkeeper her entire career. In 1977 she and her husband Cal bought Rasmussen Jewelry. They traveled extensively, across the country, for the Bulova Watch Co. from 1977 to 1985. Mrs. Sustachek was a member of St. Mary's by the Lake Catholic Church, a former member of the Holy Name Parish Christian Mothers, and was an avid reader.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 64 years, Cal; their children, Linda (Jim) Michel, of Racine, Robert (Elizabeth "Libby") Sustachek, of San Marcos, CA, William (Kathy) Sustachek, of Racine; 12 grandchildren, Denise (Jill) Michel, Lisa (Peter) Hannes III, Joel (Christine) Michel, Laura (Matt) Hurtienne, James (Shauna) Michel, Wendy Sustachek, Adam (Summer) Sustachek, Katrina Sustachek, William (Isabel) Sustachek, Kristin (Daniel) Widmar, Koreen (Joel) Hassler, and Kevin (Samantha) Sustachek; 21 great grandchildren, Peter IV (Holly), Michael, Ellie, Abigail, Cecily, Emmit, Brittany, Elizabeth, Darren, Sidney, Sawyer, Eleanor, Elisabeth, Mara, Logan, Jillian, Kassidy, Indiana, Keira, Everett, and Avery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Andis, and her infant son Reid Andis.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary By the Lake, 7605 Lakeshore Dr., on Saturday, January 5 th , at 9:30 a.m., with Rev. Stephen J. Stadinger officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday, January 4 th , from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The family would appreciate memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The American Kidney Foundation, or your favorite charity.
