Obituary

Racine – Mrs. Marion M. (Jones) Buck, 82, passed away in her home at Racine Commons on Monday, May 2, 2016.  She was born in Racine, WI on November 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Harrison (Harry) Russell and Susanna (Sue) Francis (Wiesner) Jones.

Marion attended Holy Name Elementary School and graduated from St. Catherine's High School Class of 1951. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life, John Buck, at a dance at the Great Lakes Naval Academy. Marion and John wrote letters during his 4-year tour of duty in the Korean War. They were married at Holy Name Church in Racine on July 23, 1955 upon his return. Marion and John (originally from Hazleton, ND) lived for a short time in Long Beach, CA before returning to Racine to raise a family.

A dedicated wife and mother, Marion's greatest joy was spending time with friends and family. She grew up playing softball, ice skating, and dancing, and to this day she plays cards with childhood girlfriends. She and John traveled the country camping with their 4 small children and spent vacations fishing with friends in Northern WI and MI, and visiting family near home and in ND. They were longtime, active members of St. Lucy Church. Marion worked with John in their family business (BUCK Home Remodeling & Repair). She worked as a Secretary for EMBA Mink Breeders Association and finally for S. C. Johnson & Son as a Medical Secretary. She retired in 1998.

Marion is survived by her children, Ronald Buck of Fremont, CA, Karen (John) Younk of Conestoga, PA, Brian (Marilyn Broberg) Buck of Muskego, WI; her grandchildren Sara (Jason) Brubaker of Landisville, PA, Stephanie Younk of Ephrata, PA, Jared and Colin Buck of Muskego, WI; great granddaughters Kennedy and Avery Brubaker of Landisville, PA; her sister-in-law Elaine (Raymond) Jones of Kenosha, WI, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mrs. Buck was proceeded in death by her husband John Buck (June 2014) and son Allen Buck (September 2014) as well as her sister LaVerne (Jones) Kolmos Martin and brother Raymond Jones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 11:00am, at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the Mass.  Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, 9:00am, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
