Mark Helmin-Clazmer was born February 1, 1955 and died July 8, 2025. He was the second son of parents Eugene and Doris (Fisher) Clazmer. He was predeceased by his parents and both brothers Michael (Adele) and Bill (Joann) Clazmer.

Mark is survived by his daughters, Julie Lalor and Gabrielle Helmin-Clazmer; his sister, Theresa (Peter) Neumer; grandchildren, Kai Catanneo and Judah Lalor; former wife, Sandra Helmin-Clazmer; brother-in-law, Bill (Lyn) Helmin; sister-in-law, Christine Jasniewski; nieces & nephews, Andrew (Kristen), Justin (Mahima) and Austin (Emma) Jasniewski; Matthew, Nick and Abralynn Clazmer, as well as many grand-nieces & nephews.

Mark belonged to the first graduating class of St. Lucy’s School in 1969. He went to St. Catherine’s High School where he lettered in both basketball and football. Mark also was a member of the Explorer Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. He received his associate’s degree from Gateway Technical College in Civil Engineering, retiring from the Racine Water Department after working 25 years.

He was an avid reader of historical fiction and mystery books. He loved photography, fishing and gardening. He could turn any plot of soil into a thing of beauty. Our family used to tease that if a blade of grass was out of place, he would take out a pair of scissors to trim it.

Mark was a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers, Brewers and Wisconsin Badger football and basketball teams. He proudly wore the team colors during the glory years as well as the challenging ones.

Mark volunteered for many church and school activities at St. Edward’s Parish and Washington Park High School. He was a strong supporter of the Park Girls Swim Team. In four years, he only missed one meet. He was very proud of his daughters’ accomplishments. He often spoke of them with much pride and love.

Mark was known as a baby and animal whisperer; his quiet gentle ways used to soothe even the most colicky babies and timid animals. He enjoyed sitting on his patio drinking his morning coffee and feeding both birds & squirrels. He enjoyed conversations with the many neighbors he befriended.

Mark’s final years were ridden with many health problems, yet he still continued to extend his hand in friendship and managed to smile on a daily basis. His kind and loving ways will be sorely missed.

Services celebrating Mark’s life will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 5:00 pm. A memorial dinner will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 13th,  from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Me and my dog used to sit with mark and chat about life and the day to day struggles we faced. My dog doesn’t trust anyone, but she made friends with him right away. Me and him became friends I think through that. He meant a lot to me and is missed so much. I know he had a lot of friends that would visit. I hope whoever’s reading this is doing well and taking care of themselves. I’m so sorry for your loss.
