Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggestged to the Racine Bible Church.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marla Jean Mayer, who left this world peacefully on January 24, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on July 18, 1942, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Marla lived a life rich in faith, love, and service.

Professionally, Marla served as a supervisor for the State of Wisconsin, where she demonstrated her commitment and work ethic.

Marla was a woman of unyielding faith, holding steadfast to her beliefs as a devoted member of the Racine Bible Church. She cherished her time spent in Bible study, where she engaged with fellow church family in meaningful discussions and deepened her walk with the Lord. She had a deep love for Jesus and wanted everyone to know Him.

Throughout her life, Marla found joy in the simple treasures of daily life. She had a deep affection for dogs, welcoming many furry companions into her home over the years. Gardening was another passion that brought her peace and fulfillment, as she nurtured plants with the same love she extended to those around her. Marla was also known for her culinary talents, bringing family and friends together during the holidays and special occasions.

Marla treasured her high school friendships, remaining close with her girlfriends throughout the years. Together, they created a tapestry of memories that reflected their enduring bonds and shared experiences.

Marla leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Jane (Donald) Zinser, Heidi (David Bodi) Mayer; grandchildren, Nick (Kacey) Brown, Marshall Andrews, Haleigh Mayer, Russell King, Shelby King; great-grandchildren, Emma Brown, Rhett Brown, Beau Brown, Colton Andrews; brothers, Mike (Lynn)Boring of Beverly Hills, Florida, Dan (Renee) Boring of Dallas, Georgia; sister, Jean “Boring” Speer of Melbourne Florida; nieces, Danielle Schmidt, Deanna Conti, Becca Boring, Lisa Teague; nephews, Dan Boring Jr,, Ryan Morgan; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Marla is preceded in death by her father, Harold Boring; mother, Evelyn (nee: Stacey) Ruud; step-father, Russell Ruud; son, Peter Thomas King; and brother, Butch Loring.

As we celebrate her life, the family is planning a memorial service to honor her memory on February 12, 2026, at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St, Sturtevant, WI, 53177. Visitation at 10:00 am -11:00 am, Service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggestged to the Racine Bible Church.

In these moments of loss, we are reminded of the joy Marla brought to our lives and the faith that guided her. May her spirit continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
