Racine – Marlene Elaine Malacara, 54, passed away at All Saints hospital on Monday, February 2, 2009. She was born in Racine on February 3, 1954, was a life long resident, and graduated from Horlick High school in 1971. Marlene was united in marriage to Ed Malacara on December 9, 1978. Marlene was an incredibly beautiful woman whose capacity to love was limitless. Her greatest devotion was to her family and she was her happiest when surrounded by them. To be her friend was to become a part of her family. Both her front door and her heart were always open. She was the touchstone and unifying force for everyone around her and exemplified unconditional love and acceptance. Marlene had three children of her own and four step children. She also raised countless others in her role as care giver, loving Aunt and best friend. Whether there were three children on her porch or thirty, there was a popsicle for everyone. She will be dearly missed and remembered always for her unconditional love, extraordinary kindness and boundless heart. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed Malacara; her devoted children, Barbara Dickmann of Green Bay, Alissa Malacara, and Bobby (fiance Jessica Hernandez) Malacara; adored granddaughters, Malena, Myah, Miranda, and near-born grandson; dearest stepchildren, Eddie Malacara, Michelle (Trent) Chones, Anthony Malacara, Adam (Sarah) Malacara; sweet grandchildren Andrew, Alexis, Trent Jr., Anisa, Aaron, Anjelica, Anthony, Matthew, Madelyn, Cole, and Trinity all of Racine; her beloved mother, Juanita (nee: Hernandez) Gill all of Racine; dear sisters, Janet Gill Hernandez of Pittsford, New York, Ruth (Daniel) Kane, and Rose (Bob) Nyholm both of Racine; Uncle, Samuel Gill of Racine; Aunt, Mercedes Cardona of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and special neighbors. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Robert A. Gill. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. All are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m., or Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials for the families use are appreciated.
