Detroit – Martha Ann Cooper, 73, received the promise of eternal life on October 15, 2014. She was born in Gloster, MS, on April 6, 1941, daughter of the late Claude and Mamie (nee: Porter) Rogers.
Martha leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Andre Tucker and Chad Tucker; daughters, Vanessa Lilly, Valerie (David) Smith, and Veronica Tucker; grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Nerissa Tucker, Chazere (Ashara) Miller, Theodore (Jenna) Tucker, Jordan A. Tucker, and Cylestine Smith; great-grandchildren, Darrius Etter and Calia Tucker; adopted sons, Jeffery Cooper, Perry Cooper, and Nicholas Cooper; sisters, Sadie Stone, Daisy Williams, Gloria Rogers, and Wilma Rogers; brothers, Claude (Wilma) Rogers and Leslie (Patricia) Rogers; brother-in-law, John Shannon, god-daughter, Marion Fletcher; best friend, Edna Fletcher; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
Martha is preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Shannon, Yvonne Mattox; and brother, Thomas Rogers.
A celebration of Martha's life and homegoing will take place on Friday, October 24, 2014, 11:00am, at Greater Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, 929 State Street, with Rev. Keith T. Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
The family would like to say "Thank You" to VNA Hospice, especially Chris Arnold, RN, for the compassionate care given to mom during her brief illness.
